I was at my new job today taking a ciggi break at about sunset in the rather unappealing sounding surrounding of the car park which is just over the fence from the council tip. OH has already told me about how many different birds they get around their offices, including the flock of sparrows that nest in the roof structure. What he hadn't told me about is the Starlings doing their flying displays right over head. The Starling flocks around the pier are quite a famous thing in Brighton, but there you're in the noisy city centre, were I was today it was quiet & they were coming in really low, you could actually hear the rustling of all those thousands of wings. It happens every day apparently i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif Jillyx

Oh Wow Jilly how lovely. I've seen it on tv but never in real life and I've always thought it looks amazing. I think it was countryfile or one of those programmes last week too that I seen it happen. Lucky you.

It was wonderful LG, tbh it didn't just make me smile it actually brought a tear to my eye as well (I think it was the sound of it). There used to be an advert on TV that I always loved with it in.

I see them too Biggs swarms of them over Manchester center, how do they know which place is theirs in the formation. They are clever arn't they? My little Blackbird with one leg has managed to survive the winter because the Black Cat ( 3 doors away is/was too lazy to venture out in this weather!) This cat was the one who 'caught' the Blackbird---- That is what made me smile--

Smelling the Sarcococca today with the sun shining on it, absolutely wonderful and the 1st time I've really smelled it. Going round the garden and looking at the 3 beautiful Iris Reticulat that are in bloom. 1st year for them for me but definately not the last. Watching the little Robin who is the 1st visitor to my garden every morning.

Not 3 but 1 little young blackbird came to the garden a little while ago and was so close to where I was sitting. He bobbed around and ate some sunflower seeds from the feeder and then went for a little nosey around. Lovely. ;D
