Lovely combination Jilly, and, as I grow neither roses nor clematises, I'll enjoy yours for free with none of the work ;D

Such a great year for Clems, some have come back for another flowering session & some have just never stopped. Betty Corning, she's such a delicate looking little thing, but I've only got a rough idea were the roots are, I never see her growing & then the flowers appear right at the top of the Pittisporum, which is about 8' up. Crystal Fountain has just started again. Bargain Comtesse de Bouchard from Sainsburys, she hasn't stopped flowering all summer. Sieboldii, which if I remember correctly was also another Sainsburys bargain a good few years ago. Jillyx

Beautiful Jilly - all of them. Perhaps I won't hanker after Perle D'Azur - Etoile Violette is such a thig perhaps a garden can only home one thug! ;D I bought Sieboldii after seeing it on here - it is just tiny but it has 4 flowers - bless it. Think it was a baby £3.99 from Wyevales

I'm really getting the hang of this new way of picking photos. For this great pic of your Sieboldii, I've had 3 of them and they've never done well for me. From me, it's one of my favourites, mine is just coming into bloom again for the second time. I bought Comptesse de Bouchard after seeing Missys, it is a very decent do-er. Lots of my earlies are flowering again, I was amazed! x Tig

Ah well Jilly, if the fence ever gives up you won't notice as Perle D'Azure and Etioile Violette will have made a nice hedge! ;D

I love clems and they're opening by the day now... Westerplatte Ice Blue - it has lilac veins on huge flowers - the veins don't show in my pic. This should maybe be on the purple thread but I'm putting it here as Cezanne has never got to flowering in this spot before - mainly due to an excess of s+s lurking in the plants I think!

this is such a great colour Jasmine. Lovely healthy leaves as well. Do you cut it right back and when?

Thanks for the nom Ladygardener. Westerplatte is a group 2 clem so it just gets a bit of a tidy up in Feb/March. It is doing the best out of a row of 3 - you wouldn't believe they were all in the same bed!

A comment; question.
I always thought that when the clematis wilt (right name?) infected a plant it died. Last season 2 0f my plants got hit with the wilt (I think). They started off in great shape and actually started budding. But just as the blooms started opening up the entire plant just withered, turned brown and died. I cut them back but didn't take the root out. This year both plants have come back strong and have started budding. What's up with that?
