Not sure Ladygardener but I love it with Angelface behind - what a lovely combination. If it's a Nepeta and it is that tall could it be Six Hills Giant?

I was looking closely at the flowers on my SR Con Amore Dahlia yesterday and wasn't convinced that the flowers looked anything like the colour of Con Amour in her catalogue - they are really red and in the sunshine they appeared to have red sparkly bits as well - they reminded me of Karma Choc more than Con Amour. Anyway, taken a pic in the rain today... ...and the colour looks different in the photo...and the rain...and looks more like the catalogue picture. Anyone who grows SR's Con Amour - Jilly, Ladygardener, theinsidegardener - what do you think?

Thanks Barbara Ron Jasmine. I've grown both Nepetia Grandiflora and Six Hills Giant and it's neither of those or any in your link. Jasmine thanks, I thought it might look well with Angelface.

Jasmine, thanks very much for the nom. I somehow missed your question about Con Amore, you see it does look like what I have but I have so many of hers and sometimes it's difficult to say which is which. A lot of my labels have gone AWOL I'm afraid. Perhaps theinsidegardener will know she has most of them as well.

Jasmine ::That looks like Con Amore to me, but I think there a lot that look similar - Karma Choc and Sam Hopkins (but it has a darker inside), POTM-01:: for Ladygardener - lovely colour combination

Thanks Ladygardener, in real life I would say the outer petals are very red and the centre unfurled petals are almost black. Not what I was expecting - glad I didn't plant them in the ground!

I was too busy trying to find one of my pics of it to do the potm thing but it surely deserves it Jasmine. I've found with SR her colours are very deceiving with both her Dahlia and her Tulps. Thanks for the nom theinsidegardener

Beautiful combination Ladygardener, . This is one of the Salvias from the Hayloft collection that loads of us got the other year Ladygardener, I remember we were all swapping cuttings at the time, this one is African Sky. A bit of a rubbish pic as I took it on my phone just now & it's tipping it down here, but here's one of mine just coming out. In real life in the sunshine & on a better camera it looks a lot more like yours. I haven't got Con Amore Jasmine, but this one is lovely what ever it is.

Just another thought about the Dahlias Jasmine, I think especially with the very dark ones a lot depends on the light levels & the age of the flowers. Soulman in the SR catalogue is very dark in the centre with more of a crimson on the outside. This is a pic of the first flower taken the other morning. It's almost as dark as Sam Hopkins growing really close to it, but last evening with the flower a couple of days older it looked more like the catalogue pic, but this morning in the rain it's back to looking the same colour as the pic again

That's lovely Jilly and the bronze fennel makes a good combination. Have you go your new Avon Bulb and SR catalogues? What do you think about the free Tulip Chato that she's offering. I notice she's got her own named tulip now too!

Leaves look very similar to Agastache. I have A. 'Black Adder" and the leaves smell minty.

Ron, Jasmine, Ladygardener, theinsidegardener, Barbara, Jilly, andy, Rosefriend Chuckles owdboggy Geranium Barbara Thanks for all your efforts those who have posted so far but it's none of the above. The leaves on my cutting plant are not shiny, the flowers when they come out do hang at each side of a leaf going up in teirs like a Primula Beesiana where it joins onto the stem and the stem itself is square. It measures 100cm I've just gone out and taken these pics, perhaps they will help. If you touch the leaves at all you can smell it all over the garden, I adore it. Jilly that's smashing with the fennel behind it like that. Jasmine I'm not looking at any more catalogues this year. The body of the plant has very dense leaves, I'd say this could be a bit of a thug plant if you let it get away with it considering it's only 2 years old and it was grown from a cutting.

Another possibility, Ladygardener, a variety of sage. This isn't quite it but it is similar, lyre-leaved sage.

I still think it's a Nepeta, Ladygardener; as I said on FB this morning, I sowed a packet of mixed Nepeta seeds some years ago, and this is one that has survived in the garden. I'm sorry I have no name for it other than 'Nepeta'.

Ron, Rosefriend, owdboggy, It's not Nepeta subsessilis, the flowers are arranged totally different but thank you all for trying to help name it. I think it'll be like the one Geranium grows and remain nameless.

You know what andy, you could be right, i've got Black Adder too (which is obviously too dark to be this one) but the leaves are spot on, as is the arrangement of flowers. Only trouble is when I google I can't find a pale enough blue, but I have got an annual mix which includes a mix of apricots & pinks, so pale blue has got to be possible. Ladygardener, to me Agastache smells like a minty sort of sage, with perhaps a bit of aniseed thrown in, if that's any help at all. Which it probably isn't reading that back . I think we've established that we all love your gorgeous plant what ever it is though.

andy, Jilly, thanks for your input. Smells are difficult to describe are'nt they.I don't think I could describe it any better than you Jilly. The most I can say is that it's very heady and strong lol. I did look at Agastache but could'nt find my colour either. Whatever it is it's doing well for me and I hope it lasts a long time. Every time I go past I can't resist rubbing the leaves, they almost make me "high". Not that I would know anything about that you understand.
