Here Here Barbara and Auricula
My GF in the US said that if GB had the same population as China and the USA then they would win - compared to our tiny island we are a dot in comparison to their vast populations

I think the camera men on the field where they throw the discus (sp) so brave - it seems to land inches from their faces

I did the Men's Triathalon this afternoon - totally shattered - have to say I think they should abandon the Penalty Box for this type of sport - after slowing down heartrate and then 15 secs later having to massively get it raised up again is dangerous IMO that is why younger Brownlee collapsed - missed the ceremony cos of this - had to go back to work He would have got the Silver am sure

He says he hasn't a clue...!!
If you google and look under English for the Olympia results you get the English names for all the countries and yet as you say they compete under different names - is it the International names perhaps??

Why are all the commentaries done in French first?

Post by Auricula on Aug 7, 2012 17:56:11 GMT
Because French is the official language of the modern Olympics. It was thought of by a Frenchman whose name I forget

Certainly does .... I looked it up ( he's got me at it now) and it is the IOC code given to countries. Apparently the IOC uses the code of each NOC and Germany's is GER So... none the wiser really ;D
