We will come good in the rowing, and I think we will get a medal in the equestrian too.

Surprised Germany got Gold for show jumping...they seem to have botched up most things up to now...I did think that GB would be first actually.

Our only consolation ( being a prominent 1st world country) was that Germany was doing as badly as us - now we really do need a gold to keep up ;D

I think part of the problem is that some of the athletes are told how wonderful they are and that they will get a medal just by being present that they don't try as hard as they should..the other problem is the trainers telling them to save their strength for the final...what's the point if they don't get into the finals because they haven't tried hard enough!!
The look of on the face of the German swimmers was one of absolutely disbelief that they hadn't got through to the next round...
However I have to say that anyone that has managed to qualify for the Olympics is good to start with...

Germany has 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze...

Just got a "breaking news" through from the UK saying:
The Badminton World Federation has charged eight female Olympic doubles players with "not using one's best efforts to win a match".
I can't believe it...it goes on to say that the ref showed them the black card but later rescinded it...why then..if they were playing to lose or to get an easy draw...get rid of them...surely the world doesn't need athletes like that. I bet there are many that would love to play and didn't get through...

I'm with you on that one RF sling them all back home in disgrace. Watched the GB pairs diving yesterday and the commentators put the kiss of death on them again everytime they say how good they are they fluff it big time same with Daley and Waterfield just wish they would keep their big gobs shut for once Daley is diving again I think today? but I'm off to let the chucks out them I can get to the inportant thing watching the rowing finals good luck everyone.

Question from my OH please....
Germany won the 8'er and Canada came 2nd and the UK with Bronze which was great. OH wants to know why they were so sour faced about the Bronze medal...were they annoyed at themselves that they didn't reach any higher, or what... Must admit that I could have given them all a kick as well !!

Apparently they were hoping for more....a silver With a 40yr old on board and knowing how we tend to "bottle" finals I would have thought they would have been pleased with a bronze....................no pleasing some people Well done Bradley and Chris ... stunning stuff Just watched the gymnastics and was very impressed with our boys - highest placings since 1908 ;D
