Thought it might be interesting to see what everyone is up to at the weekends. Not a gardening theme as such, more a general thing really. My Daughter from Carlow is on her way up for a weekend visit. It's about 4 hours drive for her and the 2 young children so she'll be exhausted by the itme she gets here. I'm hoping she'll have my bird table with her, it's been in her house since Christmas as she did'nt have room for it last visit:wink: Hoping for a little trip to Ikea and maybe even a GC. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif What's everyone else doing this weekend.

Overtime tomorrow 9-3 (although hopefully only until about half 2 at the very latest!) and then off for a walk down the prom with a friend and the dog on Sunday. Trying to socialise the dog a bit more and get him used to other people.

We've got a nice quiet w/e. OH is working so it will just be me and the boys. We will get their homework done tomorrow and will probably go to Tunbridge Wells on Sunday - Mum and Dad gave them some pocket money and they are keen to spend that!

MRH I think more and more people seem to be getting water buts, hope you got to spend some time in the garden. Jennywren, I remember when I was doing shifts and had to work weekends, I'm glad now that I'm past that but would'nt mind the odd Sunday shift for a bit of extra money but there's nothing doing at the moment. Hope you have a nice time with your friend coming to stay. It's always a bit manic in my house when I'm having visitors, tidying up stocking up food etc.... but it's lovely. April hope the weather is good for your socialising walk today, having a dog is a great way to exercise is'nt it. Jasmine hope you and your boys have a lovely time. It's nice to have some time with Mum on their own but I'm sure you're exhausted at bedtime. FB hope you enjoied the footie, are you tidying up in the garden or starting your planting I wonder.? I've had a lovely time with my Daughter and family, the girls seem to grow so much between visits and Aoife, little darling is just getting over the chickenpox. Poor Jenny has a huge swollen neck and is waitning for the Dr. to open, she's been up half the night with a sore throat and sore neck. I think it's her gland which is swollen and she must have some kind of throat infection, poor pet.Everyone except me are asleep again now.

Oh poor Jenny I hope it all gets sorted soon. Swollen glands could mean an infection somewhere - they tend to go down quickly so hope this happens I had chickenpox when I was in my 20's - awful

Have passed on your get well wishes to Jenny, Dr. has prescribed antibiotics so hopefully it'll get sorted soon. Bayby granddaughter does'nt seem the worse for wear despite her chickenpox, she's still smiling. April hope you feel better soon, if you catch it in time Echanecia(sp) might help ward off anything more. So much for a quiet weekend with the boys Jasmine.

I should have known that my quiet w/e wouldn't be as quiet as I thought. The hot water packed up last night and so did the immersion - what are the chances of that? OH was away at work all w/e so he tried to help me over the phone last night but I couldn't sort it out so I boiled lots of pans for baths! Today I got hold of our lovely plumber and he can't sort it out until tomorrow but he told me what to do so we could have hot water til then. Fingers crossed - it seems to be going ok.

Poor Jasmine, typical it would happen when OH is away You were very lucky to be able to get in touch with a plumber who was able to help you for sort something out meantime. Fingers crossed it does'nt cost a fortune to sort.

Hope everyones' weekend is going well. I've did a bit of potting on earlier this afternoon after coming back from town. Since we've just had a freak storm I'll be out sorting out what's left of the mini greenhouse tomorrow and assessing any other damages.

Good luck with the sorting LG - hope everything is ok. As we went to the In-laws yesterday the boys have lots of homework to get done today - so the grumping has already started ! I am retreating to the garden once I've been to Sainsburys.

Well I've been out and taken apart the mini greenhouse, cleaned everything up and threw into the compost bin all the 2nd sowing of parsnip along with the early sowings of onions and spring onions bar 2. I've no idea which they are but they're repotted into their own little pots now. I've saved a few of the palargonium which pleases me. The front is now looking a good bit tidier and the mini greenhouse needed sorted anyhow. The front of the plastic has huge tears down the front so it's on it's last legs too. My back is now aching but I@ve also put some more bricks around the new veg plot where the shallots are so it will hold the soil better.

I'm glad you were able to save some plants LG - my first mini greenhouse blew over and dumped all my little plants all over the patio - since then I have always put a breeze block onthe bottom shelf.

We went to my parent' house yesterday and helped chop three small leylandii trees down (small by comparison to how they can get!) and I had the lovely job of starting the bonfire and burning all the bits. We kept the trunk, sawn into pieces, for part of their enormous log pile. This morning we went out to Bridgemere and bought some tulips, and in the afternoon pruned back some branches on a sycamore so that the crab apple isn't suffocated.

But isn't that lovely? It's so nice to be able to potter in the garden, and see things sprouting We're off to mum and dad's again this weekend, but just for the day. It's their birthdays and they are also jetting off to Oz so we want to catch up.

Plocket of course you're right, it's great to see everything growing and some things are growing at a good rate too. I hope you all enjoy the party. Do you have family in Australia for them to visit or is it something they just always wanted to do. It's such a long long way to go is'nt it. RBJ how very lucky you are to have such a kind allotmenteer at your allotments to help you. I do hope you get a dry day for it. I'm sure you'll get loads of hints and tips too.

We aren't actually having a party - mum and dad have refused! But we'll have a lovely day celebrating all the same.
Yes my brother lives in Australia with his wife and two daughters (we went for his wedding seven years ago and had a lovely time with a six-month old LP) and my sister lives in New Zealand with her husband and two kids. This trip is for my cousin's wedding but we couldn't afford to go. Luckily my cousin lives in London so I get to see her quite a bit and phone her regularly.
