Why do the chains always go rusty?? Auricula I saw some galvanised chains at the GC just under £3 each. Also saw some in Wilkos today just under a £1, didn't say they were galvanised though, they were very bright and shiney ;D Ooooh trailing Osteospermums sound interesting Barbara, like Carolann I'd love to know how you get on with them too. Can't say as I was impressed with the selection of plants at my local GC and Nursery where I usually buy from, not much of a selection at all, maybe I'm a bit early.

Just to brighten up the fence outside the back door I've put a few pots in one of my hanging thingies I got from Ikea a few years ago. I was going to line it out and plant direct but thought the pots would look just as nice

And they do Chuckles, they look lovely. Good idea. I don't do hanging baskets ever but do lots of pots on the windowledges and around the front door. Yesterday I planted up my Delphinium and added some Nasturtium Apricot Delight around the edges. I'll pop in a Dahalia or two when the Delph is over.

It was Jilly who put me in the notion for them as she'd grown them in pots one year and they did so well. Hopefully they'll do as well for me.

These are the trailing osteospermums I bought, they came as plugs quite small as usual, they are 5 inches long now, and today I've made up my basket with . 1 trailing fuchsia, 5 osteos.2 ivy plants 2 creeping jenny and 5 pansy, I'll see how it fills out, and if osteos actually trail or just stick out, I promised Carolann an update on them.

Lovely pots Chuckles, I especially like the bottom one. I'm forever planting up little pots & moving them around. Was outside doing my Summer pots yesterday when the back gate suddenly opened. It was MIL on a flying visit "can't stop got the dog in the car, just found a new nursery, got you this" & off she popped again. I've now got an Ipomoea 'Blackie' & I presume a new nursery to visit at some time i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif Anyone else grown it, looks like it will need a wall pot. Thanks for the comments girls. I've got a bit of a thing about having things planted up in pots & moving them around Jilly ;D Be careful Missy its additive ;D I like some of the dainty flowers on alpines but don't have anywhere in the garden to have them, so, small pots are ideal. I've done a few other pots recently so I'll post some piccies when I get a chance. I've changed this thread title so it covers any type of container used to display our lovely plants

Lovely Chuckles I do like you little birds I have planted 2 new troughs up 1 has dwarf lily's and the other has a Palagonium, some dwarf Antirinums amd trailing Petunia, I have moved the old wooden boxes from the front of the house into the garden for their last year and planted them up with Petunia's and in the GH I have 3 baskets waiting to go outside.

Chuckles the trailing osteos. are just sitting in the basket doing nothing, it's toooooooooooo cold and wet for anything to grow properly.

I've not tackled some of the containers yet, can't bear to rip these out - they have been brilliant, especially as they were 'rescues'
